YOUNGSTOWN - Gasoline prices are falling across the Mahoning and Shenango valleys as the 2025 holiday season ended. The national average for a gallon of regular gas fell to $2.83 this week. This is the lowest price for gas in December since 2020.

Current data from GasBuddy and AAA show specific local prices for regular fuel. Drivers in Mahoning County can find gas for $2.37 at the Pilot on Market Street in North Lima.

In Trumbull County, the Sheetz on East Market Street in Warren offers gas for $2.14.

Columbiana County prices are also lower. Murphy USA on East State Street in Salem has gas for $2.32.

Mercer County, Pennsylvania, remains more expensive than Ohio. The Speed Check on Sharon New Castle Road in Farrell has the lowest price in that area at $2.99.

Experts from the Energy Information Administration say the gas supply is strong. Domestic gasoline supply grew to more than 225 million barrels this month. This supply meets high demand as record numbers of people travel for the holidays.

Crude oil prices also remain low. West Texas Intermediate crude rose slightly to $57.76 a barrel this week after a long period of decline.

AAA reports that 2025 was a stable year for fuel costs with no major price spikes. The organization will release its next full fuel report on Jan. 8.
