From 20s to 50s: Mild January air is coming
Although we will enter a new day, today's weather story will be the same as Saturday's.
After a brief shot of flurries moved across our area last night, things have become calm as high pressure has approached our area. Clouds will hang tough, though, as high temperatures will be in the upper 20s. Winds will especially calm down in the afternoon. While we may lose some cloud cover in the evening, a clipper system will pass to our north, bringing non-zero snow chances to those north of Route 422. If snow does fall, accumulations would not be much more than just a coating. Temperatures will rise from a low temperature of 20° late.
Our first mild day since the new year will arrive on Monday, as a warm front is expected to sweep across our area. We could get our best chance for sun as well during the day, as high temperatures will peak around 40°. Clouds will begin to increase late as temperatures will hold steady in the upper 20s.
Temperatures will only get warmer by Tuesday. This will come with a chance for showers, though, as a low-pressure system will pass to our north. This will give us a decent chance for some widespread, light showers in the afternoon. That threat will continue into the evening, with low temperatures bottoming out in the mid-30s.
We may have a brief chance for precipitation early Wednesday morning, though things will remain dry through the rest of the day, on an otherwise uneventful one, with highs just above 40°.
We’ll start timing out our next system moving through our area through the end of the work week. Thursday morning looks to be dry, yet very mild with high temperatures approaching 50°, 15° above average. While a late-day shower is not out of the question, showers are much more likely to arrive overnight, continuing to Friday. A frontal passage looks likely, meaning after a mild Friday, conditions can turn very wintry, even bringing the chance for snow. These events won’t occur till the end of the seven-day forecast, however, so stay with us and download the Storm Tracker 21 app for updates.
