YOUNGSTOWN - A juvenile suspect is facing charges after police say he dragged an officer during a traffic stop Friday night.

According to a police report, the officers pulled over a vehicle at the intersection of Idlewood Avenue and Parkcliffe Avenue for multiple traffic offenses, including failing to use a turn signal and having no visible registration.

Police say the car smelled of burnt marijuana and there were several smoked joints in the car.

According to the report, police ordered the 16-year-old driver out of the vehicle and eventually grabbed onto him to try to pull him out, but the teen started driving away.

At this point, the officer got into the car to avoid falling out of the car and getting run over, according to the report. Police say the car continued down the block until it suddenly stopped.

Officers then detained the teen and searched the vehicle. The report states that officers found suspected vape products and pills, as well as $1,500 in cash.

According to the report, the teen is charged with felonious assault and obstructing official business and was also cited for underage possession of marijuana.

Police say the suspect will appear in juvenile court, but a date has not been set yet.
