SALEM, Ohio - The owners of a 67-acre industrial property in Columbiana County located at 921 S. Ellsworth Ave. in Salem are facing multiple environmental violations following an inspection by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.

According to EPA documents, Salem Logistics LLC received a notice of violation on December 24. Inspectors cited several compliance issues at the site, including the failure to carry out a required post-closure plan.

That plan includes removing woody vegetation and making repairs to address erosion on the property.

The agency also noted several violations involving monitoring wells used at the site. Those wells are designed to monitor areas where hazardous waste was previously handled.

An inspection conducted March 11 found additional concerns, including unstable concrete on the property.

The owners have 14 days from the receipt of the to respond and submit a plan detailing how they will correct the violations.

The property was previously controlled by the Columbiana County Port Authority before transferring the property back to Salem Logistics LLC after they originally purchased it.

One owner, Rob Swindell said they will be laying out a plan to correct the violations on Wednesday.
