WARREN, Ohio - A Warren man has entered a guilty plea in an animal cruelty case.

Forty-four-year-old Thomas Leimkuehler pled guilty to a charge of cruelty to companion animals in Judge Cynthia Rice's court Wednesday afternoon. No sentencing date has been set yet, but Leimkuhler could face a maximum sentence of 180 days in jail.

Leimkuehler was charged after a dog was found in a distressed condition in the basement of a home on Oak Knoll Avenue in Warren in May of 2025.

The dog was flown to Salem for emergency veterinary care, but ultimately had to be euthanized due to the severity of its condition.
