Police: Boardman driver 3 times legal limit in crash
The SUV struck two traffic signs and two telephone poles, causing wires to fall across the roadway.

A Boardman man faces drunk driving charges after police said he crashed into two utility poles while driving home from a YSU football game with an alcohol level more than three times the legal limit.
The crash happened just before 6 p.m. on Nov. 22 on Shields Road near Titus Drive. According to a Boardman police report, James Davis, 58, was driving a 2023 silver Kia Telluride west when he drove off the left side of the road.
The SUV struck two traffic signs and two telephone poles, causing wires to fall across the roadway.
When officers arrived, they found Davis inside the damaged vehicle. He reportedly told police he was driving home from a Youngstown State University game but could not remember what caused the crash.
Police said Davis admitted he had "five or six beers" at the game. According to the report, officers noticed Davis was unsteady on his feet and struggled to keep his balance as he got out of the SUV.
Ambulance crews took Davis to Mercy Health Youngstown for treatment. Because of his possible injuries, police did not perform standard field sobriety tests at the scene. Instead, Davis provided a urine sample at the hospital.
Police received the lab results on Jan. 1, which showed an alcohol concentration of 0.263. Ohio law sets the standard legal limit for driving at 0.08.
Davis is charged with operating a vehicle under the influence and failure to control. Court records show he entered a not guilty plea. He was booked at the police station on Tuesday and is scheduled to appear for a pretrial hearing in Mahoning County Court on Feb. 5.
