Niles councilman announces candidacy for Trumbull County Auditor

WARREN - A longtime office holder in the City of Niles has announced his intent to run to become the next Trumbull County Auditor.
Edward Stredney has announced his intent to run for the position of Trumbull County Auditor, vowing to "restore [the Trumbull County] auditor's office's integrity," according to a press release.
Stredney said he decided to run for auditor after seeing some recent issues with the Auditor's Office, including the legal battle with Bazetta Township following a scam that caused the township to lose tens of thousands of taxpayer dollars, as well as legal threats over budget cuts.
"I will ensure the Trumbull County Auditor's Office operates with transparency, fraud prevention and quality compliance. It should not be a place where townships are scammed out of money, where developers are taxed out of new construction, where homeowners are taxed out of their homes and where the Auditor's Office is constantly at odds with all other county offices," Stredney said in the release.
Stredney has served on Niles City Council for over 10 years, most recently being reelected in 2025. He had also served as Service Director for the City of Niles for about two years.
Stredney is running against inucmbent Trumbull County Auditor Martha Yoder. Other candidates for Auditor include former State Representative Mike Loychik, as well as Stacy Marling.
