According to a news release, State Representative David Thomas has filed to run for reelection to serve as a state representative for Ohio's 65th District.

Rep. Thomas is currently serving in his first term as a state representative of the 65th District, which serves portions of Trumbull County and Ashtabula County.

He also serves as Vice Chairman for the House Ways and Means Committee, along with being a member of the Energy Committee, Public Insurance and Pension and Arts, Athletics and Tourism Committee.

"I am running for reelection to keep achieving successes for our taxpayers in Ohio especially focusing on making life more affordable," said Rep. Thomas.

Rep. Thomas continued," This includes my goals for more tax reform legislation, decreasing government spending, pushing for needed improvements at the state and local level for services and working on the things people actually want done, what is impacting their wallets that needs corrected."

Within the release, it is noted that Rep. Thomas has contributed to legislation passed and introduced, including:

  • Five property tax reform measures
  • House Bill 64, which lowers the age of the Senior Discount Hunting and Fishing Licenses to 65-years-old
  • House Bill 476, which legalizes online charitable raffles

Additionally, the release includes efforts by Rep. Thomas to bring tax dollars back to the 65th District, including:

  • Working with the Lake to River Delegation to secure $500,000 to Mosquito Lake
  • $2 million for the Youngstown Air Reserve Station
  • $500,000 for a study for a natural gas pipeline that would run along State Route 11 in Ashtabula and Trumbull Counties

Thomas believes, as stated in the release, that a pipeline down Route 11 could fuel businesses along the corridor and get natural gas to homeowners.

"I promised the voters my first term would be delivering on property tax reform, transparency and good customer service to taxpayers," said Rep. Thomas.

Rep. Thomas continued," We have delivered on each of these with strong results and want to continue this service to the people of the 65th District."
