Hermitage receives over $913,000 for pump station project

HERMITAGE - The City of Hermitage has received a $913,600 grant for a pump station project in the city.
The project calls for the demolition of the existing Wheatland Pump Station and the installation of 1,100 linear feet of sewer lines to divert the flow to the existing Council Avenue Pump Station.
According to a press release, the existing Wheatland Pump Station has reached the end of its 50-year lifespan and now presents environmental hazards from stormwater inflow and infiltration that cause pollution of the nearby river and sewage backups in homes and businesses.
This funding is part of $4 million in Community Project Funding (CPF) grants that have been approved for projects within Pennsylvania's 16th Congressional District.
Pennsylvania 16th District Congressman Mike Kelly is quoted in the release saying he and his team's priority was ensuring taxpayers recieved a strong return on their investment this year.
"These projects represent real, tangible investments in essential water and sewer infrastructure that will significantly benefit communities across the 1th Congressional District. Each of these projects will address critical public health, environmental and reliability concerns," Kelly said.
