A damp start to the weekend, with colder air to follow
As a cold front pushes out of the area, showers will taper off, and winds will remain elevated.
Winds could gust up to 40 to 45 mph at times this afternoon and evening. Clouds will break for some late-day sunshine, with temperatures falling back into the 40s after sunset and then to the low 30s Saturday morning.
We will get a break from the rain for the most part Saturday morning, but showers will become widespread in the afternoon and evening, with temperatures in the upper 40s to low 50s. Showers will taper off in the evening with a small chance for a flurry overnight.
Sunday becomes breezy again and much colder, with temperatures peaking in the low 30s early in the afternoon before falling. A flurry or two is possible in the morning with scattered snow showers around in the afternoon.
After a much colder day on Sunday, temperatures will moderate a bit for the first half of next week. High temperatures on Monday will return to the upper 30s, with Tuesday and Wednesday temperatures jumping to the low 40s.
There will be a pattern of colder days that sets up for the second half of next week, and for the week to follow, so cold winter air will return as we head into the second half of January.
