The Metroplex Expo Center, located at 1620 Motor Inn Drive in Girard, is set to host the Great Lakes Fishing Expo during the weekend of January 9, 2026.

Aaron Garrett, Owner of the Great Lakes Fishing Expo, told 21 News that the expo will feature seminars, vendors of all fishing-related materials and a kids zone.

Additionally, Garrett says that 100 fishing rods will be given away to the first children at the door on Saturday, January 10, along with hourly raffles for both children and adults.

Anyone looking for a high-tech piece of fishing equipment may have good luck finding an item during the expo, according to Garrett.

"We have baits. Everything from someone that's never fished before to advanced anglers, you can find everything in between. Typically, for the advanced guys, they're looking for something unique that they can't get anywhere else, and we have vendors that have that from Japan and from Europe," said Garrett.

The expo will take place on both Saturday and Sunday.

Tickets for adults are listed to be $12, while children 10-years-old and younger are free. Tickets are sold at the door.
