Expansion space on the horizon for National Packard Museum in Warren

WARREN - An expansion project is in the planning stages for the National Packard Museum in Warren.
The museum opened in 1999 and showcases generations' worth of luxury cars.
Mary Ann Porinchak, the executive director of the National Packard Museum, says the expansion will be on the south end of the building, and its purpose is to store vehicles that they cannot display in the gallery due to space constraints.
The expansion space will also include a mechanics bay for workers to maintain and preserve the vehicles.
Porinchak says having this space will help them rotate cars more often, and host more events and activities to enhance the guests' experience.
She also describes the wall between the museum and the expansion room will be made of glass, so guests can see the vehicles that are stored there.
Porinchak says the expansion will take between $1 million and $1.5 million to complete, but the museum needs $400,000 to break ground.
She hopes to start construction on the expansion in the spring of 2026.
