YOUNGSTOWN - Guests were able to build their own butterfly shadowbox at Westside Bowl on Sunday.

Bugs n' Brews was a ticketed event where participants could create their own unique shadowbox while learning about the conservation of insects.

"We're just here to promote conservation," Trinity Drougas, owner of Tiny Treasures, who organized the event, said. "And also helping people meet everyone else, you know? To create community and a second space for everybody."

Attendees were provided materials from Tiny Treasures, including a shadowbox frame, florals, moss, bark and sustainably-sourced butterfly specimens to personalize their creation.

$10 from each ticket sold was donated to All About the Pawz, a volunteer-run non-profit animal rescue based out of Austintown.

"A lot of these butterflies, they promote local communities and jobs, and they also help us put back into our environment," Drougas said.

Drougas stated that a lot of their business consists of donating to local Ohio conservatories.

The next event is scheduled for Sunday, February 8, at Westside Bowl, located at 2617 Mahoning Avenue in Youngstown. This Bugs n' Brews event is Valentine's Day themed and will be centered around scorpions.

The owner also said that she hopes to make Bugs n' Brews a monthly event.
