YOUNGSTOWN - The Youngstown Press Club is currently seeking applications for up to four $4,000 college scholarships it plans to award this year.

The awards will go to college sophomores, juniors and seniors who live in the Mahoning or Shenango Valleys and are majoring in journalism or a related field.

Qualifying related fields are communication, broadcasting, marketing, advertising and public relations. 

Applicants must submit proof of a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, be entering their sophomore, junior or senior year in the 2026-27 academic year and submit at least two writing or broadcast samples.

Applicants must live in Mahoning, Trumbull, Columbiana, Mercer or Lawrence Counties, but they may attend college outside of those counties.

Finally, applicants may provide examples of community involvement or current engagement in journalism or a related field and up to two letters of recommendation. 

The deadline to apply for the scholarship is April 1, 2026. Scholarship recipients are asked to commit to attending the Youngstown Press Club's Hall of Fame and Awards Dinner at Stambaugh Auditorium on September 23, 2026.
