TRANSFER, Pa. - Firefighters from multiple municipalities in Mercer County worked together to rescue a horse that was pinned in a barn stall last week.

According to a post from the Transfer Volunteer Fire Department's Facebook page, firefighters were called to a privately owned farm on Thursday, January 8 for a horse named Sir pinned inside a barn stall.

When crews got to the scene, they found that Sir was trapped between the stable wall and the door. The Hermitage Fire Department was called for mutual aid, and a veterinarian was also called to check on Sir.

Sir was rescued using straps that firefighters use for car rescues. The rescue took approximately five hours, but it took Sir only 10 minutes to start trotting around and eating like normal again.
