Warren man pleads guilty to threatening animal rescuer

A Warren man pleaded guilty Monday to several charges following a confrontation with an animal rescue worker and city police last year.
Brian E. Miller Sr., 45, entered the plea in Warren Municipal Court. The charges involve a case where Miller was accused of threatening Jason Cooke, the president of The Healthy Hearts and Paws Project.
The incident occurred in September 2025 at a home on Idylwild Street Northeast. Cooke was at the residence to rescue a dog that was reportedly malnourished. At the time, officials described the home as being in poor condition and without working utilities.
According to court records, Miller pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated menacing. He also pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of obstructing official business. As part of a legal agreement, the court dismissed other charges against him, including child endangering, criminal trespass, and disorderly conduct.
A second man involved in the incident, 18-year-old Dontay Miller Jr., of Girard, was indicted on one count of carrying a concealed weapon. His case is pending in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.
Judge Natasha Natale has scheduled Miller’s sentencing for Feb. 3.
