Bond set for father of Struthers toddler killed in accidental shooting

STRUTHERS - Bond has been set on Tuesday for the father of a toddler who was accidentally shot in a Struthers home in August.
Bond for 22-year-old Jacob Jackson was originally set at $50,000 before Judge Maureen Sweeney lowered it to $25,000.
Jackson pled not guilty to charges of involuntary manslaughter (F1) and endangering children (F3). If convicted, Jackson could face between three to 11 years in prison on the F1 charge and one to five years on the F3 charge.
The charges stem from the accidental shooting death of Jacob's son Gionni Jackson in a home on the 400 block of Spring Street in Struthers.
Police say Gionni got a hold of a loaded firearm left unsecured on a dresser and accidentally shot himself in the head before Jacob could retrieve the weapon from him.
A passerby began to drive Gionni and a parent to the hospital before stopping to meet police and fire crews in a plaza in Boardman, where Gionni was then taken to the hospital.
Gionni was later pronounced dead, with his death being ruled as accidental.
Jackson posted bond and was released from jail within a matter of hours.
