Columbiana County awarded funding for road safety improvements

COLUMBIANA COUNTY, Ohio - The Ohio Department of Transportation's Highway Safety Improvement Program is awarding funding to Columbiana County to improve roadway safety.
According to a release, the funding comes from a $37 million federal grant aimed at improving safety and mobility on roadways throughout the region.
"This investment will help position East Liverpool for continued growth while ensuring residents can travel more safely throughout the community," said Ohio State Representative Monica Robb Blasdel.
Part of the funding will go towards a project on State Route 39 in East Liverpool, which includes new signage, pavement markings, sidewalks, pedestrian crossings and lighting improvement on about 2.5 miles of roadway.
Additionally, construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Parkway Avenue and Boyce Street is included in the project.
"The State Route 39 project in Columbiana County is a strong example of how targeted infrastructure improvements...can significantly enhance safety and mobility for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists alike," said Rep. Robb Blasdel.
