COLUMBUS, Ohio - Two promotions have been announced in strategic leadership roles for the Academy for Urban Scholars High School (AUS).

Sabrina Jones, who acted as the superintendent of education, has been promoted to president of education. 

Jones has over two decades of experience in education, with over half coming from her time with AUS. She served as the director of special education and the school director for the campus in Youngstown.

"As we move forward, my focus is on strengthening our vision, fostering innovation, and building sustainable pathways for success," said Jones.

Jones' new role includes leading academic strategy, instructional leadership and long-term educational planning across all AUS campuses in Youngstown, Columbus, Canton and Toledo.

Additionally, Dr. Corey Yoakam has been appointed to the role of superintendent.

Dr. Yoakam brings 15 years of experience in education to the role, including previously serving as the director of innovative academics for Youngstown's AUS campus. 

"I am honored to step into the role of superintendent of education...We are focused on literacy in all its forms and delivering instruction in innovative ways that prepare scholars not only for today but for the future," said Dr. Yoakam.

Dr. Yoakam will oversee academic operations, curriculum implementation and instructional outcomes across all AUS campuses.

The Academy of Urban Scholars High School's mission is centered on closing the educational gap through innovative, career-focused learning. It has multiple locations across the state of Ohio including Youngstown, which is located at 3405 Market Street.
