Mercer County, Pa. - Mercer County is being awarded funding to help improve parks, trails and recreation planning.

Pennsylvania Senator Michelle Brooks made the announcement on Thursday, January 15. 

According to a release, Mercer County will receive $127,200 through the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Community Conservation Partnerships Program.

The release states the funds will be used to further develop Munnell Run in Coolspring Township in Mercer County. Those developments include construction of pedestrian walkways, a parking area, stormwater management measures and landscaping, among others.

"These investments will improve local parks, increase accessibility and help communities plan for the future," Brooks said. "The projects will help enhance our efforts to strengthen our communities for local families and tourists visiting the region."
