Light snow this weekend, brutal cold next week

Snow will return to the forecast for part of the weekend, all before our coldest air of the season invades early next week.
Snow will become more widespread Friday night into Saturday morning, dropping a fresh coating and accumulating up to one inch of new snow. Temperatures will rise to the low 30s around midnight, and then fall to the upper 20s shortly after midnight before peaking slightly above freezing later on Saturday.
Flurries will be possible on Saturday morning, but a better chance for snow will occur during the midday and afternoon hours on Saturday; snow intensity could fluctuate at times on Saturday as well. Additional snowfall accumulation of one to two inches is possible on Saturday.
Sunday will be quiet but cold. Temperatures will peak to about twenty degrees, and wind chill values could be as cold as 5 below zero, especially in the morning. MLK Day will remain very cold with flurries possible from time to time. Temperatures will fall out of the upper teens early in the morning, and wind chills may drop below zero before sunset.
Our coldest air of the season comes on Tuesday. Air temperatures will drop to around zero on Tuesday morning, with air temperatures only rising to the low teens Tueday afternoon. Wind chill values will be brutal, dropping to as cold as 15 below zero in the morning, and staying below zero for the entirety of the day.
Light snow will remain in the forecast on Wednesday with high temperatures improving to the upper 20s.
Temperatures will remain well below the average as we work towards the final days of January.
