Youngstown Symphony Orchestra to welcome new director with concert

The Youngstown Symphony Orchestra (YSO) will soon formally welcome its new music director, Erik Ochsner, during an upcoming concert.
Ochsner, who was announced to be filling the position in December 2025, will be responsible for curating the season's programming and conducting the orchestra.
On January 25 at 2:30 p.m., Ochsner will be welcomed to Stambaugh Auditorium, located at 1000 5th Avenue in Youngstown, with "Fantastique."
According to a news release outlining the concert, the music featured is aimed to show audiences the musical experiences that span Ochsner's expertise and give a nod to his heritage.
Tickets to the concert can be purchased online on the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra website, by calling 330-259-0555 or in person at the YourArts Box Office from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The box office is located at 260 West Federal Street in Youngstown.
Tickets may also be purchased at the door before the performance on Sunday.
The musical experience will feature the following pieces:
- Richard Wagner's "Götterdämmerung: Siegfried's Death - Funeral March"
- "Night Ride and Sunrise" tone poem
- "Olympic Fanfare"
- "Adventures On Earth" from the film E.T.
- Hector Berlioz's "Symphonie fantastique"
During the "Symphonie fantastique", it is noted that two bells will be played in the lobby. One of the two bells is from a 1894 school that was on Market Street in Youngstown.
Those bells will be on display in the main lobby.
