Dog found tethered outside of Liberty Township residence

A dog was found tethered outside of a residence in Liberty Township on Thursday, January 15.
Jason Cooke, founder of the Healthy Hearts and Paws Project in Warren, shared pictures of the rescued dog and the scene he was called to on his Facebook page.
The shelter's Humane Division was called to assist the Liberty Township Police Department with a dog found tethered in the backyard of a residence on Euclid Avenue.
Cooke states that at the time of the call, a winter weather advisory was in effect, and "feels like" temperatures were in the single-digit degrees.
A water bowl was found frozen, and Cooke says the dog box was not filled with enough straw or heating items to help protect the dog from the temperatures.

The dog was immediately impounded and taken to the shelter, where he remains.
Cooke notes that a probable cause hearing will take place in the Girard Municipal Court at some point in the future.
