YOUNGSTOWN - On Friday, the Youngstown City School Board's Transportation Committee met with its district's bus drivers to identify and discuss solutions to busing issues.

One of the issues addressed by drivers at the meeting involved a misunderstanding of their paychecks, which Board Member Kenneth Donaldson said the board needs to clarify.

"We just need to fix the problems. We've got great drivers, and we value our drivers. We just need to fix the issues so that we're a healthy organization," said Donaldson.

For months, the school board has also been addressing the need for more bus drivers amid an ongoing shortage.

In 2024, the district cut busing to its high school students, forcing them to either rely on their own means of transportation or use the W-R-T-A bus service.

Donaldson said the goal is to get all concerns resolved between the board and the bus drivers as quickly and efficiently as possible.
