Temperatures in the Mahoning Valley are predicted to drop over the next few days, with lows projected to be in the single digits or even sub-zero, according to the Storm Tracker 21 team

As a result, some organizations are opening up as warming centers for anyone in need of heat.

The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County (PLYMC) announced in a news release on Monday that the vestibules of three PLYMC branches would open early on Tuesday.

The branches opening early at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 20, include:

  • Main Library, located at 305 Wick Avenue in Youngstown
  • Newport, located at 3730 Market Street in Youngstown
  • Michael Kusalaba, located at 2185 Mahoning Avenue in Youngstown

All other PLYMC branches will open on time at 9 a.m.
