YOUNGSTOWN - Firefighters with the Youngstown Fire Department are at the scene of a fire at a foundry in the city Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to Coronado Steel Co. on Funston Drive in Youngstown for a report of a fire in the building. The fire was contained by the time our crew got to the scene.

The engineering manager at the facility tells 21 News the fire was small and no one in the building was injured.

Chief Drummond with the Youngstown Fire Department told 21 News that, while the official cause of the fire is still under investigation, it is believed that the fire stemmed from a dye machine at the back of the building.

Drummond says that molten steel being poured into the machine leaked onto the floor, where pallets and cardboard surrounding the machine caught fire.

No major injuries were reported, but some people were treated on scene for minor injuries, including smoke inhalation. No one was taken to the hospital.

The manager says the amount of damage to the factory is currently being evaluated.
