Grove City Hospital earns Primary Stroke Center certification

GROVE CITY, Pa. - Allegheny Health Network's (AHN) Grove City Hospital has earned a Primary Stroke Center certification by the Joint Commission.
The Joint Commission is a nationwide standards-setting and accrediting body in health care.
This achievement designates AHN Groce City as a specialized referral center that can provide high-quality care for patients who have suffered and are recovering from a stroke.
Additionally, the certification verifies the hospital's ability to provide life-saving treatments that can minimize brain injury and improve patient outcomes.
AHN Grove City is the seventh AHN hospital to earn the Primary Stroke Center designation.
AHN Grove City's stroke team comprises physical, occupational and speech therapists, stroke navigators, neurologists, emergency medicine physicians and a stroke-certified nursing staff.
The outcomes of experiencing a stroke are critically linked to the timeliness and nature of post-event treatment. If patients receive emergency treatment to restore blood flow to the brain, they have a significantly greater chance of survival.
The symptoms of a stroke include a drooping face, arm weakness on one side of the body, slurred speech, and difficulty seeing.
If you or someone you know may be experiencing symptoms of a stroke, call 9-1-1 immediately.
