Majority Whip and statehouse Representative Nick Santucci (R-Niles) said in a Thursday statement that he was frustrated and deeply concerned by Insight Hospital and Medical Center Trumbull's decision to return their license to the state of Ohio.

"Access to reliable, high-quality healthcare is not a luxury; it is essential to the wellbeing of our residents and the long-term stability of our region," Santucci said in the statement. "I share the frustration and uncertainty felt by patients, families, and healthcare workers who have endured repeated disruptions tied to changes in ownership, licensing challenges, and operational instability over the past several years. Our community deserves clarity, accountability, and a sustainable path forward."

Santucci added that he will continue "working alongside local and regional economic development partners" to establish a "new, reputable hospital system" that will provide dependable healthcare for Valley residents.

"The Ohio Department of Health and the Governor's Office play a critical role in overseeing hospital licensing, regulatory compliance, and ensuring continuity of care, and their leadership is essential in helping stabilize and support the healthcare system in Trumbull County," Santucci stated.

Santucci said he and his office are also working with local officials to assist patients and displaced healthcare workers affected by the instability caused by Insight.
