MERCER, Pa. - A firefighter suffered burns while battling a blaze in Mercer Borough early Friday.

Mercer East End Fire Department officials were called to East Beaver Street just after 6:30 a.m. after someone reported that a two-story house was burning.

The first firefighters on the scene saw that the flames had spread through the home and called in a second alarm.

One firefighter, who was taken to a hospital for treatment of burns to his face, is expected to be okay.

The woman who lives at the home was at work when the fire broke out.

However, two family dogs were still unaccounted for on Friday morning.

Investigators are looking for the cause of the fire.
