WRTA warns of possible bus delays as winter storm approaches Youngstown

Transit officials are warning bus riders in the Mahoning Valley to prepare for potential service disruptions as a significant winter storm brings heavy snow and sub-zero temperatures to the region.
The Western Reserve Transit Authority (WRTA) announced Friday that passengers should anticipate delays or suspended services starting Monday, Jan. 26. This warning comes as the local forecast calls for a high of only 15 degrees today with wind chills reaching 4 degrees below zero. While Saturday remains mostly cloudy and cold with a low of minus 5, a major shift arrives Sunday when heavy snow is expected to blanket the area.
WRTA officials said they will monitor road conditions closely to ensure the safety of bus operators and passengers. Changes to schedules or routes will be made based on how well local crews can clear the streets, especially during Monday’s continued snow showers and high of 14 degrees. Commuters should prepare for difficult travel conditions through at least Tuesday, depending on the severity of the accumulation.
To stay informed, the agency encourages riders to use the MyStop mobile app for real-time tracking. Alerts will also be posted on WRTA social media pages as the storm evolves to keep the public updated on any immediate cancellations.
