Some Pennsylvania roadways to see vehicle, speed restrictions on Sunday

Some roadways in Pennsylvania are expected to see vehicle and speed restrictions. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced the planned restrictions in a news release on Friday.
Across the region, heavy snow is expected to impact drivers beginning Saturday night.
Therefore, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PA Turnpike) and PennDOT announced the plan to implement a Tier 4 vehicle restriction across some roadways.
The restriction goes into effect beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Sunday, January 25.
Under a Tier 4 vehicle restriction, no commercial vehicles are permitted on listed roadways, alongside school buses, commercial buses, motor coaches, motorcycles, RVs and motorhomes and passenger vehicles like cars, SUVs pickup trucks and others.
Tier 4 restrictions will be in place along the following roadways:
- All Pennsylvania interstates, including PA Turnpike I-76, PA Turnpike I-70 and all Turnpike extensions
- U.S. 15 from I-180 to the New York Border
- U.S. 22 from Route 66 to I-99
- U.S. 22 from I-78 to the New Jersey border
- U.S. 219 from U.S. 30 to U.S. 22
- U.S. 220 from I-80 to I-180
- U.S. 322 from I-99 to I-81
- Route 28 from I-279 to U.S. 422
- The entire length of Route 33
In addition to vehicle restrictions, all commercial vehicles not impacted by restrictions will see a speed reduction to 45 miles per hour.
An interactive, detailed map of all roadways that are anticipated to see restrictions can be found on the 511PA website.
