Hermitage celebrates 50 years of the city

HERMITAGE - The year 2026 marks 50 years since the city of Hermitage officially changed its name.
In 1976, the city officially became known as Hermitage, marking a new chapter in its history.
Since then, the Hermitage Historical Society has worked to preserve the story behind the change that shaped the community.
"The people who made this decision 50 years ago, I think, made a wonderful decision, and I think it's helped grow Hermitage into what it is today. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else," said Cameron Linton, board president of the Hermitage Historical Society.
The city also celebrated its 50th anniversary in conjunction with America's 250th birthday.
Organizers say the celebration is a chance to highlight how communities like Hermitage are part of America's broader story.
