Over $45K raised to benefit 'Columbiana Project Playground'

On Saturday, folks from the Columbiana community went to Birdfish Brewing Company at 140 East Park Avenue in Columbiana, aiming to support "Columbiana Project Playground."
The project is centered around building a playground that is all-inclusive and accessible for people of all abilities to use in the Columbiana community.
To support this goal, organizers set up the third annual "For the Love of the Playground" fundraiser from noon to 4 p.m.
The event featured a public project update, over 60 raffle baskets, two food trucks, kids' activities and a batch of Park IPA, served on tap at the brewery.
Additionally, several checks were presented totaling over $45,000, all to benefit the Columbiana Project Playground initiative.
Donations presented included:
- PHD Manufacturing made a $28,000 donation
- Sheely's Furniture made a $12,000 donation
- The Bracelet Girls, led by Kendall Good, raised $350 to donate
Organizers say that, between additional donations and the raffle baskets, an additional $7,600 were raised for the project.
In total, the event brought in $47,950. To date, over $500,000 has been raised for the project.
According to a Facebook post made by Stephanie Kale, someone affiliated with the event, the Columbiana Project Playground initiative still needs $180,000 to complete Phase One.
Equipment for the playground is tentatively scheduled to arrive on January 30, 2026.
The committee of the project is aiming to close the gap in remaining funds needed by April 1 in order to install and finish the playground by mid-May.
