University Hospitals not interested in purchasing former Insight Health hospital buildings

WARREN After Insight Health in Warren surrendered its license with the Ohio Department of Health (ODH), a Cleveland-based hospital system stated that it does not have an interest in purchasing the buildings.
A University Hospitals (UH) spokesperson says that while the healthcare landscapes are constantly changing, as of Sunday, UH has no plan to expand in Trumbull County.
"Insight is free to submit a new application for a hospital license. Of course, that process would involve ODH ensuring that Insight has met all state standards required for licensure," ODH stated previously.
Insight purchased the Trumbull Regional Medical Center and Hillside Rehabilitation Hospitals from Steward Health as part of Steward Health's bankruptcy proceedings in late 2024, but the doors were closed in March 2025.
21 News previously reported that while Insight owns the hospitals as business entities, they never purchased the real estate, which remains the physical property of Medical Properties Trust.
Finding a new owner for the entities and buildings is still in the works.
