OIL CITY, Pa. - State transportation officials have removed vehicle restrictions on interstates in Mercer County and other parts of northwest Pennsylvania following a weekend winter storm.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation lifted the Tier 3 and Tier 4 bans that had limited certain types of traffic on major highways. The restrictions were initially put in place on Sunday to manage safety during heavy snow and ice.

PennDOT has also restored speed limits on certain interstates and roadways where speeds were previously reduced. This applies to Interstates 79, 376, 279 and 579, along with Route 65 in Lawrence County.

Crews are noted as continuing to treat roadways and will continue until roads are clear.
