The Western Reserve Transit Authority suspended all bus services Monday as a winter storm created dangerous travel conditions across the Mahoning Valley.

The transit agency canceled both fixed-route and scheduled services for Jan. 26 after heavy snow and low temperatures moved into the region. Officials said the decision was made to protect the safety of passengers and bus drivers.

According to a service alert, WRTA plans to resume operations Tuesday, Jan. 27. However, the agency noted that the return of service depends on the weather and how quickly crews can clear local roads.

The suspension follows a weekend of cold temperatures and follows warnings from transit officials that disruptions were likely. Local forecasts for Monday show temperatures remaining in the mid-teens with continued snow showers.

Riders can check the MyStop mobile app or the agency's social media pages for updates regarding Tuesday's schedule.
