LIBERTY - Liberty Local Schools bus driver Amy Ballard will be shaving her head to support childhood cancer research.

Ballard has served the Liberty Local School District in many ways for the past 20 years in various positions, including a recess and lunch aide, as well as a bus driver.

Now, Ballard is participating in a St. Baldrick's Foundation head shaving event to support childhood cancer research on Saturday, March 14 at the Penguin City Brewery in downtown Youngstown.

Ballard hopes to raise $2,500 to support life-saving research into childhood cancers.

"I know what's important in the world - everything nature and all the kids. I figured if I can make it just a little better, St. Baldrick's and a haircut is a good place to start," Ballard said.

According to St. Baldrick's website, the organization is a volunteer and donor-powered charity committed to supporting research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives.

Ballard has raised $250 so far, according to the event's page. You can donate to her or any other participant's campaign by clicking here.
