Valley residents could see mail delivery interruptions, delays due to storm impacts

Some residents in the Mahoning Valley could see delays or interruptions in mail delivery services due to the impact of the winter storm.
The United States Postal Service (USPS) issued a service alert on its website, indicating that winter weather in certain parts of the United States, including Northeastern Ohio, would impact "the processing, transportation and delivery of mail and packages."
A representative for Ohio with USPS told 21 News that mail delivery would only be attempted in areas where roads are passable.
It is noted that while USPS does deliver mail in cold weather, including items such as medications, government correspondence and other essential supplies, employees in times of extremely cold conditions follow safety precautions, including:
- Dressing in layers and wearing appropriate winter gear
- Taking warm-up breaks
- Remaining alert for hazardous conditions
- Adjusting work practices to safely manage weather-related risks
- Maintaining communication with local management regarding changes
Furthermore, the representative stated that weather conditions are monitored and "delivery decisions are made with employee safety as the top priority."
