No major storms, but lots of major cold in this week's forecast

The lowest wind chills of the season so far will greet early morning risers on Tuesday, as air temperatures will be below zero and the wind will be g
usty at times. The afternoon will only bring modest improvement, as wind chills are expected to settle near the zero-degree mark. Some flurries can be around during the morning and midday hours, then a scattering of snow showers early in the evening will be capable of producing up to an inch or so of new snow. Watch for slick spots, particularly between 4pm-8pm.
While the wind chill values will not be as low Wednesday morning, the air temperature is set to drop even farther. Readings will be hard pressed to get out of the single digits despite some anemic January sun Wednesday. Thursday's forecast includes a chance for a few snow flurries.
Quiet, but bone-chilling cold weather is in store for the tail end of the work week and the upcoming weekend. We do not anticipate temperatures getting back into the 20s until the start of next week.
