Adrian Vitus, a Youngstown native, Youngstown State University alumnus and public policy specialist announced his candidacy for Congress. He will be running as a Democrat, according to his social media pages.

"In this region, we have a strong history of unions, factories and hard work. It wasn't easy, but back then, one salary was enough to buy a house and start a family. But Ohio has been ignored and sold out by our leadership for decades. For my generation, homes are unaffordable, college is unaffordable, jobs are being replaced by AI and the millionaire politicians don't listen to us," Vitus said in a press release.

Vitus was born in Campbell and attended Poland Seminary High School and graduated from YSU before going on to work internationally. He earned his master's degree in international relations in Europe and worked with organizations such as the World Bank and the United States Agency for International Development.

He also worked as a non-profit fundraiser, political campaign organizer and educator in cities and countries around the world.

Vitus will face off against other Democratic candidates for Ohio's 6th District in the May 2026 Primary Election, including Sean Connolly, Brent Hanni and Malcolm Ritchie.
