YOUNGSTOWN - The Ohio Clerk of Courts Association (OCCA) has called on Mahoning County Clerk of Courts Michael Ciccone to resign.

A letter dated December 8, 2025, calls for the resignation of Ciccone amidst multiple allegations, including racially offensive text messages, reports of office mismanagement and actions inconsistent with established ethical standards.

Following a formal censure issued on November 3, OCCA's Executive Committee met in December to determine the appropriate course of action. Ultimately, the committee voted to remove Ciccone from all OCCA committees.

"After careful consideration, it is the position of the Executive Committee that your continued membership undermines the values, credibility, and integrity of the OCCA. For these reasons, we respectfully request that you voluntarily resign your membership in the Ohio Clerk of Courts Association effective immediately," the letter reads.

The letter then asks Ciccone to submit written confirmation of his resignation by December 29, 2025. As of this writing, Ciccone has not resigned.

21 News has reached out to Ciccone for comment, but have not heard back yet.
