The Lakeview Schools community came together on Tuesday to help raise money for a teenager who was critically injured after being accidentally shot with a pellet gun.

Jaxsen Morelli, 13, was placed into a medically induced coma following the incident.

During Tuesday night's basketball game, the Lakeview Bulldogs held a fundraiser to benefit Morelli and his family.

"Lakeview's just a really good community, that when something happens, everybody comes together and just really pulls together and does everything they can for whoever might be in need," said Amy Newton, a member of the Lakeview Athletic Boosters.

Those at the game who donated at the gate got the chance to make a half-court shot. Additionally, proceeds raised during the 50/50 raffle that would typically go to the team will instead go towards Morelli's recovery.

Newton shared an update on Morelli, saying that she has been hearing positive updates from family members who say he is alert.
