Court hearing today for Youngstown arson suspect who pleaded ‘insanity’

A court hearing is scheduled today for a Youngstown man who has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to twenty charges filed in connection with a string of arson fires.
Will Jones, 59, is scheduled for a motion hearing in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.
The charges include 14 counts of aggravated arson, four counts of arson, and one count of vandalism. According to court records, Jones filed the new plea through his attorney on Jan. 21.
Authorities previously identified Jones as the suspect in a string of arson involving both homes and vehicles. Investigators said the fires took place at various locations, including Oak Hill Avenue and downtown Youngstown.
One victim, local business owner George Case, reported that a fire set to his truck destroyed $20,000 worth of music equipment. Case said the loss of the equipment affected his ability to work as a musician and perform charity events.
Jones has a history of similar offenses. He was previously convicted of arson twice in Cuyahoga County, serving a seven-year prison sentence starting in 2002 and a nine-year sentence starting in 2016.
Jones remains in custody with a bond set at $450,000.
A jury trial is currently set to begin Feb. 23.
