SOBE boilers running again following ruptured water line

YOUNGSTOWN - Several buildings in downtown Youngstown are regaining heat after SOBE had to shut down its boilers for several hours
According to an email sent to customers shortly after 10 a.m. Wednesday, a water supply line ruptured around 6:30 a.m., which forced the boiler shutdown.
SOBE President John Rambo tells 21 News the repairs to the water line are complete and the boilers were turned back on around 11:05 a.m., but did not reach full steam until around 12:30 p.m.
A spokesperson for the City of Youngstown issued the following statement on the situation:
"The ongoing issues with SOBE's ability to provide adequate heating services continue to be alarming and fall well below the standards of their responsibilities as a public utility. We continue to urge for immediate intervention from PUCO and are continuously working with the state to find a meaningful solution to meet the needs of our constituents who depend on their services."
21 News has reached out to SOBE and the city for further information and we are actively working to learn more. Stay connected online and on air for the latest updates.
