Youngstown fundraiser aims to spread puppy love this Valentine's Day

A nonprofit dedicated to helping dogs at the Mahoning County Dog Warden is asking the public to send some love to dogs in need this Valentine's Day.
Friends of Fido's "For The Love of Dogs" is asking dog-lovers to send valentines to the canines at the pound before they hope to find them a new owner.
The organization is asking those who would like to help to send a $1 or more donation along with a valentine to hang in the agency's halls.
The money they hope to raise will go toward the efforts to help the dogs get any veterinary care they need.
"There is no shortage of homeless dogs that need vet care," a news release states.
The fundraiser will run until the end of February 2026.
Friends of Fido, which began in 2011, reports spending over $140,000 on veterinary care for their dogs in 2025.
Any valentines and donations can be mailed to:

P.O. Box 2963

The donations and cards can also be dropped off during business hours at the Mahoning County Dog Warden at 1230 N. Meridian Rd. in Youngstown.
