Basketball challenge in Sharon to benefit childhood cancer research

SHARON - During two Penn State Shenango basketball games, guests can participate in a challenge that will help fund childhood cancer research.
Students from Shenango's Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) will be hosting a 3-point contest and fundraiser, "3's for THON", at two Penn State Shenango basketball games.
The contest will take place during halftime of the Penn State Shenango men's and women's basketball games at The Buhl Club in Sharon on Tuesday, February 3. The women's game will begin at 5:30 p.m., with the men's game to immediately follow, starting at 7:30 p.m.
A donation of $2 earns one 3-point shot and $5 earns three 3-point shots. Those who participate and make one, will get a free THON t-shirt along with an additional prize.
THON is Penn State's student-run dance marathon and philanthropy event. To date, it has raised more than $254 million.
All proceeds made from the contest will benefit Four Diamonds at Penn State Health Children's Hospital, which supports families financially and helps offset treatment costs. Thorugh the Penn State College of Medicine, Four Diamonds can also help provide funding for cancer research.
If an attendee at the game would like to donate but not participate in the challenge, they can still make donations at the ticket table.
