Newton Falls - A business based out of Newton Falls is launching a city-wide treasure hunt.

According to a release, the Fieldview Acres Mercantile, also known as "The Merc", created the treasure hunt to encourage the community and visitors to go out and into the city and explore what it has to offer.

In the coming weeks, a real cache of jewelry will be hidden in publicly accessible areas in Newton Falls. Once the treasure is placed, clues will be released periodically on The Merc's social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.

"This is our way of inviting people to come to Newton Falls, explore the town, and hopefully support the local businesses they encounter along the way," the release states.

It is free to participate in the hunt and it does not require a purchase. If the treasure is found, the finder can keep it.

When the treasure has been found, The Merc will inform the public and will formally close the hunt.

The release states that if this hunt is successful, The Merc will continue creating treasure hunts in the future with even bigger prizes.

"If this brings more awareness and support to businesses across the entire town, then it's doing exactly what we hoped," the release states.
