Firefighters battle Warren house fire in sub-zero temperatures

Fire crews responded to a house fire in Warren early Friday morning as local temperatures dropped well below zero.
The fire was reported at 7:50 a.m. at a home located at 1199 Taylor St. NW. The first firefighter to arrive on the scene reported seeing smoke coming from the attic of the two-story house.
Both the first and second floors were burning in the back of the house.
Working in the current weather conditions, which reached 11 degrees below zero, creates several difficulties for fire departments. Water from hoses can quickly freeze on the ground, creating slippery conditions for crews moving around the property. Equipment and valves are also at risk of freezing if water is not kept moving constantly.
The cause of the fire is not yet known, and officials have not confirmed if anyone was injured in the blaze.
