Youngstown literary nonprofit to hold winter gathering

YOUNGSTOWN - Lit Youngstown, a literary nonprofit that aims to invest in local storytelling, will be hosting its annual winter gathering Friday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Culturati Studios, 350 E Federal.
Just Desserts: A Lit Winter Evening is set to feature short readings from authors Kortney Morrow and Philip Terman as well as cocktails and mocktails served by "celebrity bartenders John Noga and Jimmy Sutman." The event will also include a costume contest, with prizes awarded to participants with the best "literary children" themed attire.
"Costumes are optional," Lit Youngstown director Karen Schubert said, "But I love how clever they are. For last year's theme of literary villains, someone came dressed as the dam from The Monkey Wrench Gang."
Live jazz music will also accompany the event, performed by the Catro Trio. Poet Philip Terman is also set to perform poetry accompanied by the jazz trio.
Guests will also be treated to desserts and charcuterie, with vegan and gluten free options available.
Doors open at 6:15 p.m. with programming set to begin at 7:00 p.m. Guests can purchase tickets ahead of the event at Lit Youngstown's website or at the door.
