Super load transporting 'critical' rocket materials travels through Lisbon
A super load that created several rolling traffic delays and shutdowns along U.S. Route 30 Friday morning travelled through Lisbon as it heads toward its final destination, where its load will contribute to the commercial space sector.
The super load truck made its way through the county seat's downtown Friday afternoon, successfully making its turn from U.S. Route 30 onto State Route 45. It is now headed south and will be in East Liverpool later this afternoon, according to Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 Public Information Officer Lauren Borell.
Linde Gas is the company involved in the transport and is sending "critical liquid oxygen and nitrogen to support rocket launches," according to Borell and a July 2025 press release from Linde. The load's final destination is Mims, Florida where its materials will "support rocket launches at nearby space facilities."
Borell added that the super load began its travel Thursday in East Canton. Most traffic delays due to the slow-moving load should soon be over, she said.
Crews could be seen from the Columbiana County Courthouse, adjusting traffic lights in the Route 30 intersection to accommodate the load before it arrived in the village.
Borell said ODOT urges drivers to use caution and patience when near super load trucks or crews. She advises giving everyone involved in the transport, and in any large load transport, plenty of space.
"It's important to be patient with them and take alternate routes when you can," Borell said.
